Based on more than 30 years of professional experience, both in academic and consultancy practice, specialized knowledge and experiences are provided concerning all issues of environmental policy, law, governance and institution-building, including European environmental policy and international environmental policy and law.
International advisory services have been provided in the past in countries in all parts of the world where advice was given on drafting environmental legislation and the implementation of international conventions. Advice was also given to national and international institutions on the preparation of agreements and “soft law” instruments.
Since the year 2000, advisory services focused on the EU enlargement process in Eastern Europe. EU-funded institution-building projects, both Technical Assistance and Twinning Projects, were managed as Team Leader or Resident Twinning Adviser, respectively. Projects concerned not only the transposition and implementation of the EU environmental legislation but also the building-up and strengthening of environmental institutions. Thus, the services were closely related to the establishment of environmental governance in the new member states of the European Union.
